Brasov Rally 2013

Today although this is by no means the first rally I attend it is the first where I have some good photo gear to record it. Rather fitting as this is my home rally and the starting event of the Romanian rally championship.

A late night visit at the service park sees a support team scrambling to change the gearbox on their Dacia Logan.

Two Subarus are patiently waiting to challenge the twisty slippery roads surrounding Brasov, although they look nice and fresh only one of them will reach the finish line.

The very fist competitor to come on the first stage is a 1 HP machine, the driver is clearly distracted by the presence of the photographer but the co driver is calmly reading the pacenotes, rallying at its finest!

Jokes aside here's an Evo in it's natural environment.

An S2000 Skoda living on the edge, this is what rallying is all about!

The fastest guys on the tarmac quietly waiting for the start signal of the second stage as snow lightly falls.

Although red is a color usually put aside for very fast cars, here it graces the humble Dacia Logan. These cars  low in horsepower are the perfect start for a beginner as they are cheap to run.

This car is certainly not low on HP, as night falls the snows starts to come down heavy, here we have Romania's finest the very fast French François Delecour.

Spectators braced the frigid temperatures and heavy snow to come on the perhaps most spectacular turn of the rally overlooking the Brasov city.

Evos make such great rally cars.

Subarus like going sideways, fun for the driver spectacular for the spectators.

But sometimes too much sideways hurts.

When your rim almost touches the ground you know you are going fast!

To end it all here's an other Dacia blazing thought the winter wonderland
